Bring Out Your Dead

It’s been said many times over the centuries returning to the force means becoming one with it, losing your identity and returning to a whole. The dead are gone and ghosts simply Do Not Exist. There is a method of course, of retaining your identity after your passing all but lost until a certain Jedi rediscovered and passed on the secret.
This is not that meme.
The afterlife is a helluva place, full of people old and new who all share a single common thread. You’ve gone and passed from your mortal body and you’re (probably) stuck in the netherworld. It’s a bit boring being dead and all but you’ve got good (and bad) company, it’s hard to die when you’re already dead, and hey! You can sit back and watch the newer generations come and bumble along.
((This is a
And remember; time isn’t linear when you’re dead. ))

satine kryze | :')
or, she is here for commentary on the events following her death, following a certain someone until he reaches the death star – whatever you want to talk about, satine has A Lot to say. ]
This worries me.

fightingbetter form for no reason but he Can. ]I'm sure they'll figure it through.

They named him Ben.

[ He won't dwell. He can't dwell. Losing Satine had been one of the hardest blows he'd ever personally taken, but going back — living in the past — is not the way of the Jedi. Instead, he finds himself respecting the past. Specifically their past. ]
Why start now?
[ Adding a warm smile to his obvious fondness should say enough about his current temperament. He's here to listen. ]

[ she did not dwell either, with business to tend to, a life to live. for all that she felt for him, she knew that it was best to contain those urges to keep him at her side, using a few choice words that could have changed everything. what they had was a bright spot in those dark days on the move. duty came first.
she moves to him, though still keeping a respectable distance between them. her smile is more reserved but just as warm. ]
The girl, she shows great promise.

She isn't the only one, but... yes. There's an undeniable strength within her, something well beyond that which the Force offers.
-however, she is quite unpredictable at times, isn't she?
[ 8D? ]

Padmé would be proud of her children, both of them. [ hoo boy, here it goes. ]

[ And thus, not something he's been encouraged to feel on his own part. Nevertheless, even spoken ruefully, Obi-Wan does not feel himself entirely divested from the emotion. Especially in this situation. ]
Padmé's decisions — her selflessness in making them — transforms pride from vanity to virtue.

[ At times he wishes he could be so decisive and principled, that every decision he made wasn't weighed so heavily against what he expected of himself.
His face hardens a bit and his focus turns to something distant. A memory, perhaps. ]
And none quite like you.

We are relics of a different time, I suppose.
[ it should be allowed, showing a little affection, right? they are no longer bound by their duties. ]
no subject
It does tend to feel that way, doesn't it?
[ It nothing else, it tired him in ways that certain types of rest didn't seem to touch. At least there's none of that here. ]
Everything has gotten so... complicated. I can't remember the last time I was fortunate enough to make an easy decision.

[ everything had been for the sake of her planet, a planet she had worked so hard to protect only to watch it descend into a warrior culture once more, and then home to an imperial academy. it wasn't fair. it just wasn't fair, and it broke her heart to watch it from afar. ]
Even when we were quite young, it wasn't easy.

[ Lifetimes ago, when they were both so much younger, there had been romance in being on the run. The constant danger was disheartening at times, but the fire it breathed into all of them had set a precedence. In retrospect, Obi-Wan saw in himself much childish behavior, but also the beginnings of traits he prized now, many of which were born of Satine's influence. ]
Is this— [ He meaningfully glances around. ] —any easier?

I hadn't thought much of what death would be like.

[ The unspoken addendum being that he will never stop blaming himself, of course.
At times he's so willful, so very stubbornly steadfast. But he has always seen to cultivating the path straight through that guard specifically for Satine. So effortlessly she leaves him breathless. So easily she makes him feel weak. And so often he overcompensates to show he's not, only to find he falls well short of the strength he really needs — strength that would have surely saved her.
Such attachments are frowned upon, but Obi-Wan can't bear to release the love he still feels for her, even after death. ]

she feels his smile on her and her face warms in a way that it hadn't for years. this time, satine does not hesitate when she reaches for his hand. ]
There was so much more I could have done. Even if I lived until I was a hundred years old, there would always be more to do.

Death does not mark the end of your hard work. I believe that lives on.
[ In some part within him, although he often regrets that he can't, even now, hope to practice the same application of peacemaking as Satine. ]

That is not what I was trying to accomplish at all ...

Hobbie Klivian
Wow.
So that time actually took.
Padme
Maybe if someone would try to live up to their Grandmother's legacy instead of a misinformed one about their Grandfather.

[ Ani’s pretty sure the kid gets that from Han’s side of the family. ]

[She's inclined to agree- though Han's not a bad sort of fellow. She doesn't think...]

[ He shakes his head. Luke is more peaceful, to be sure, but he's not the one who was trained in politics for nearly their entire life. Maybe if Padme had been there...
But there's no use thinking about that now, is there? ]

[There were plenty of things she would have done differently- though that was Leia's and Han's discretion, not hers. Still, it was frustrating to watch...]
If he had spent more time with his mother...
[There were a lot of "if"s to take into account, really.]

[ It sounds like an excuse, but it’s true. It’s not easy to be a parent and be a general for the Resistance all at once, and train a Jedi on top of that. ]

[So nice to finally be meeting the in-laws.]

My condolences.

Yeah.
So... you're Leia's mother, huh?
Good to finally meet you.

It's nice to finally meet you, Han Solo. Though, dare I say too soon.

Anakin Skywalker
I can't believe this.

It's remarkable it's come to this.

I hope Leia takes her time.
[He's not really talking to anyone else but himself. He hopes Chewie and Luke don't show up anytime soon, as well, but... hell, they're all old now. Who knows how time works in this place, anyway.]

Sorry we're finally meeting under these circumstances.

let's pretend like this isn't horribly late
At least you can appear as a Force ghost or vision or whatever if you wanted to.
oh no, you're right on time ;)
